Tallahassee Police will be closing numerous streets on Saturday October 22 for the FAMU homecoming parade.  The parade will start around 8:00A.M. at the intersection of Tennessee Street and Macomb Street and run until around 12:00P.M.  Many of the streets in and around the area will be affected by the parade. The FAMU football game against Norfolk will start around 3:00P.M. with street closing starting at 1:00P.M.

Staging for the FAMU Homecoming Parade begins early Saturday morning and the following streets will be closed to through traffic beginning at 6:30 a.m.

  • Macomb St. from Fourth Ave. to Tennessee St.
  • Old Bainbridge Rd. from Fourth Ave. to Georgia St.
  • Brevard St. from Copeland St. to Bronough St.
  • Georgia St. from Copeland St. to MLK Blvd.
  • Virginia St. from Copeland St. to MLK Blvd.
  • Bronough St. from Sixth Ave. to Tennessee St.

    In addition to the above streets the following streets will be closed at 7:45 a.m. and will remain closed through the end of the parade (appox. 12:00 p.m.).

  • Tennessee St. from Monroe St. to the Bryan St/Basin St. intersection (local traffic only, no through traffic)
  • Duval St. from Gaines St. to Virginia St.
  • Call St. from Bronough St. to Adams St.
  • Park Ave. from Bronough St. to Adams St.
  • College Ave. from Bronough St. to Adams St.
  • Jefferson St. from Duval St. to Adams St.
  • Pensacola St. from Bronough St. to Adams St.
  • St. Augustine St. from Bronough St. to Duval St.

    Christ, I remember going out for groceries without realizing they were doing their homecoming. It took two hours and the grocery store was only like a mile away.

    Always seems like it would be easier for them to just say 'the majority of downtown'.

    Wow. Thank you for posting this. I need to go do my shift at the crisis hotline at 12:45. I will definately take back roads and leave early.

    Do they pull this shit every year, or is this the first? I don't recall so many streets being shut down, although I've seen the traffic alone accomplish that.
