round 2

the worst thing a person can call you is "argumentative", because you can't object...

i don't think i'm argumentative, but i do know i'll argue a point well after i should if i think i'm right.  i think argumentative people seek it out, and that's a different thing.  arguing for the sake of the argument.  i argue to make you a better person.  really.

this week has been awful.  why can't we just do our jobs and do them well?  why does it have to be about the politics and people's feelings?  i care about the quality of the product, not how you "feel" about it.  you better feel like "wow, that does look more professional.  i'm so glad you brought that up!" but i know it isn't going to happen that way.  i'm torn between acceptance and going somewhere else where we can just focus on the important stuff and let the PR people handle the fluffing and snowballing.

it makes me nuts when the people i work with get all offended by things that fall under "that's why this is my job and that's your job" because i don't tell them how to do their jobs.

Seriously, you'd be surprised how often I've had a project yanked out from under me because someone else with more authority got wind of it and decided they really wanted that shiny idea on their trophy wall instead.

Or, the thing I have the hardest time swallowing, I'll come up with an idea/design, be told we can't do it that way because of "policy", etc, etc, so we muck around with it to make'm happy, and then half a year later people are saying how bad the design is and why can't we do it this way... that just so happens to be the original vision of the damned thing. Will people remember, "Glad they finally got it to look like we originally wanted?" No. They'll just remember that it "sucked", but then someone made it look "great" and "new". Feh.

On the other hand, it's vaguely liberating to know that anything I could possibly come up with has a shelf-life of apparently a year, and then it'll be wiped out when someone else needs a feather in their cap.

OMG, yes! that's exactly the crap i'm talking about.

i'm filled with the desire to run around screaming "what's wrong with you people" but that would get me in trouble too. so i sit quietly and wait for spontaneous combustion to get me...

we should start a business where "feelings" don't exist and you do your job and do it well and people appreciate you for it.
